Weekend that was Very Very Long...

Hubby's nephew got married last Sunday. Thus, the whole jinx gang, from mother-in-law to sister-in-laws, to sisters and brothers, to cousins, to nieces and nephews, we all gathered in my auntie's place in Balik Pulau, Penang Island.

We started our journey roughly about 9am that morning. Ayah, Mak and Yayah were in one car and me and family in another car. We stopped at Tapah R&R for breakfast and continued our journey. We planned to meet up with 3 more cars (i.e. my 2 sister-in-laws and their respective family and hubby's niece and her family). In total, 5 cars convoyed together. It was fun actually, trying to show off each other's skills, cutting off each other and beating off on the road, but of course, safely.

We arrived at my auntie's place about 3pm, with abundance of food waiting for us. There were a huge pot of penang fish curry, a huge pot of asam rebus batang keladi - yummy, tons and tons of ulam with the most delicious sambal belacan, ikan goreng, and acar buah. We indulged into the glorious food immediately. Then, after that, we all took turn in taking shower and did our solat. The guys went to the mosque, which is a stonethrow away from my auntie's house. We lepak and yak like there is no tomorrow. Then, all the makcik2 (& that includes me) started to bring out our respective dish and kuih-muihs that we brought as buah tangan.

Things that were shared :-
My mother-in-law - lemang (12 batangs)
My mom - murtabak boyan (very popular-we had this the next day as breakfast)
My sister-in-law 1 - rendang daging kelantan style
My sister-in-law 2 - apam (keledek flavour) & kek coklat
Myself - Kuih abok2

The above became our tea break meal except for my mom's murtabak boyan. Later that evening, at about 6.30pm, my 2 sister-in-law, my mom, my cousin and I decided to travel down to the Pekan, to look for the wedding cake and some other stuff for the hantarans.

We went all the way down to Giant. This was when I took my chance to visit our Anlene Roadshow booth which was happening there. The crowd was big but the response to the roadshow was ok only. The 'makcik2' took the opportunity to buy some unnecessary stuffs... hehehe, biasalah kan, kata makcik2. I bought the pengantin cake, believe it or not, for only RM25 (1kg). So darn cheap. Over here, it can easily cost you at least RM40. Wow....

By the time, these 'makcik2' arrived safely back at Balik Pulau, it was almost 9.30pm. Huhuhuhu....

One thing for sure, it was blazing hot in Balik Pulau. I perspired non-stop even after shower. Tak larat beb... panas gilerrrr!!! That night, my children and I could hardly sleep. Ain kept on waking up in the middle of the night to ask for water........

The next day, our day started very early. My duty was to heat up the 'murtabak boyan'. Mom and my auntie busy making pots and pots of drinks, ada kopi, ade teh susu, ada teh o, ade nescafe..... macam2 ade. Actually we planned to cook nasi lemak that morning but due to so much of food still available on the table, we decided to scrap the nasi lemak from our main menu!!!

Right after breakfast, I head the hantaran troop and started to show off my hidden skills. I made the 'sirih junjung', touch up a lot of the unfinished job of other hantarans, and by noon, everything settled. Then, it was time to get ready for the majlis akad nikah. It was held at one of the mosque there (there were so many mosques in that one small area, I am amazed). There were roughly about 15 cars altogether sending the pengantin lelaki (who is hubby's sister's son). Akad nikah happenend at about 2pm. It took him 3 times to lafaz the akad & nikah before he was confirmed as the Husband of his spouse. And thank god, it was raining at that moment. At least, it helped to make the weather slightly cooler. Alhamdulillah....

Then, all of us, that 15 cars convoyed to the bride's house. Had our lunch there and right after that, headed back to my auntie's house. Time was almost 4pm. It was time to pack and hubby decided to balik kampung and stay one night at his mom's place. We overnight there and
Monday morning at about 11am, we headed home blissfully. We took the back road and it was a smooth journey. Alhamdulillah.....
